Directing Happiness in the Workplace…

What happens when you hire a “Director of Happiness” to build an even more fun, inclusive and creative culture? Emma Keenan and a team of Brand Fuelians (Khaliha Long, Danny Mahoney, Beth Bumgarner, Renee Holmes & Bree McAndrews) planned an online lunch. But this was not an awk lunch where the highlight (or lowlight) was in realizing which coworker chews with their mouth open.This virtual lunch came with an appeal: “Bring personal, nostalgic childhood foods and memories to share.” The goal? Find joy and humor at work. And I was grinning the whole time.

Nostalgic Lunch Takeaways

Nothing says “successful corporate culture building” like a room full of adults realizing they survived childhood on what essentially amounts to edible science experiments and parental neglect disguised as packed lunches. Our parents are looking down at their shoes uncomfortably as they basically said, “here’s some processed meat in a tube and artificial fruit leather” and called it nutrition. Yet, somehow, we turned out fine enough to have jobs with titles like “Director of Happiness” in them.
